Sheikh Mohammed Ashraf Al-Genbihy, born in 1997 in Edko, Egypt, is a distinguished scholar and educator in the field of Quranic studies and recitations. He is married and blessed with two children, embodying the values of family and community.
From an early age, Sheikh Mohammed displayed a profound passion for the Quran, which led him to enroll in the Faculty of Quranic Studies and Recitations at Al-Azhar University. He proudly became the first young man from Edko to join this prestigious institution. Throughout his academic journey, he attained numerous licenses and an unbroken chain of narration back to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the Quran and its recitations.
Biography
Sheikh Mohammed has made significant contributions to the promotion and understanding of the Quran in his community. He served as a judge for major Quranic competitions in Edko, demonstrating his expertise and commitment to fostering talent in Quranic recitation. Additionally, he held the position of Chairman of the Religious Committee for the Future of the Nation Party, reflecting his active engagement in societal and religious matters.
Though he began his career as a teacher at Al-Azhar, Sheikh Mohammed decided to dedicate himself fully to his role as an imam and khateeb, volunteering with the Ministry of Awqaf. He currently serves as the imam of the Al-Abasiri Mosque in Edko, where he leads prayers and provides spiritual guidance. He previously served as the imam of the Al-Kalaf Mosque in Damanhour for three years, further enriching his experience and outreach.
In addition to his roles in the mosque, Sheikh Mohammed is the founder of Dar Al-Badr Al-Munir, a Quran memorization center where he imparts knowledge and skills to his students. As an internationally recognized Quran memorizer, he has taught individuals from various countries, including students from London, Russia, and several Arab nations.
Sheikh Mohammed is also an esteemed Quran reciter, known for his participation in major events across Egypt and the Islamic world. He has recorded a complete recitation of the Quran in the Hafs an Assem narration and oversees the recording of the Quran in all other recitations. His proficiency and unique performance have earned him the admiration of both his teachers and peers.
His teachers, including Sheikh Hassan Ali Hebala, Sheikh Ahmed Basila, and Sheikh Hamada Saleh, have played a pivotal role in shaping his skills, with Sheikh Saleh continuing to mentor him in the ten canonical readings. Sheikh Mohammed’s dedication to teaching has borne fruit, with his students achieving notable success, including the complete memorization of the Quran by Salma Said Al-Rashidi, who earned recognition for her mastery.
