He earned master’s and doctoral degrees in computer science and engineering from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. His research topic was OO Software Engineering: Problems and Perspectives. Driven by his desire to stay abreast of constant changes in the industry, Dr. Fayad joined the Association for Computing Machinery, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the International Association for English Linguistics, and the Arab Computer Society. Dr. Mohamed Fayad has been a Professor of Computer Engineering at San Jose State University since 2002. Between 1995 and 1999, he was an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the School of Computer Engineering at the University of Nevada. He subsequently served as the J.D. Edwards Professor of Software Engineering in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, from 1999 to 2002. He has over fifteen years of industry experience and ten years as a software engineer at companies such as MACD, Neil Douglas, and Philips Research Laboratory. His reputation has grown thanks to his achievements in the industry. 

In addition, he has been an IEEE featured speaker, associate editor, editorial consultant, and columnist for The Communications of ACM. He had a column called Thinking Objectively. He was also a columnist for the Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram, which has about 2 million subscribers. He was editor-in-chief of the IEEE Computer Society Press – Computer Science and Engineering Press (1995-1997). Dr. Fayad served as the General President of the IEEE/Arab Computer Society International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications (AICCSA 2001) in Beirut, Lebanon, from June 26-29, 2001. In addition to this, he was a founder and president of the Arab Computer Society (ACS) from April 2004 to April 2007.

Not only all the achievements mentioned above but also Dr. Fayad is considered a well-known and recognized reference in the theoretical field and applications of software engineering, linguistic engineering, and the art of abstraction. He has numerous publications in archival journals and conferences in software engineering. Dr. Fayad has been a guest editor on 11 topics related to small software engineering and application frameworks, object-oriented approaches to distributed control engineering, web-based software engineering, stable and unified machine learning in progress, and much more. All of this research and scientific contributions take place in a period extending from October 1995 to April 2012. These are long years of sweat, struggle, fatigue, research, and abundant scientific production.

Dr. Fayad has published more than 300 high-quality articles, including in-depth and well-cited reports in many prestigious journals. More than 100 advanced articles have been published in numerous conferences. They have been published in over 25 primary and prestigious journals, with approximately 16 blog columns and 11 well-cited articles. He has given 24 workshops at highly prestigious conferences and more than 125 educational programs, seminars, and short presentations in more than 25 states in the USA since 1978. He was also active in his work and workshops in over 35 countries. To name a few: Hong Kong, Canada, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Portugal, Finland, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Germany, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Spain, Brazil, China, Morocco, Poland, India, Vietnam and Malaysia. He is also the founder of 7 new online magazines. He has more than ten authoritative books, including three translated into different languages, such as Chinese, and more than eight books are currently in progress.

Dr. Fayad is also filing 8 new, valuable, and innovative patents, developing more than 800 stable programming patterns, and making significant progress in the fields of Unified Software Architecture Reuse (USER), Unified Software Architecture (USE), Language Engineering, and the Art of Stable Abstractions in Action. Moreover, 50 books on cosmic symphonies were translated into English.
